In this course on popular culture, I have gained a deeper understanding of its meaning and impact on society. Before taking this class, I didn't know what pop culture was, I just thought of it as simple entertainment. Popular culture including film, music, fashion, social media, and more, plays an important role in reflecting and shaping our collective values and beliefs. If use a word to describe this course, I would use the sea because the sea represents the vastness, diversity, and ever-changing nature of popular culture. The sea is dynamic, and popular culture is dynamic, it's constantly evolving and changing. "Lone Digger" is a new song from a genre that is new to me by the French electronic band Caravan Palace and is the electro-swing genre. "I Really Love You" is a Cantonese song from my parents' generation which was performed by Hong Kong rock band Beyond in 1989, and its lyrics include gratitude for a mother's love and blessings.
